“Variety is the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor.” William Cowper (1785)

⏳ Valle de Guadalupe in Baja is a wonderfully diverse region with a long history of winemaking dating back nearly 350 years, when Spanish missionaries planted the first winegrapes here in 1683.

🐂 Cattle were introduced into Valle de Guadalupe around 1834, after the Mexican War of Independence, and the Valle was a diverse region with cattle grazing in pasturelands along the river, and farms supporting a variety of crops including winegrapes, fruit trees, wheat and vegetables.

🐟 The coastal city of Ensenada has modern history dating back to 1542, with fishing and sportfishing industries that have developed in the last 100 years.

🍷🍽️ Fast forward to 2025, and a modern day winemaker can enjoy growing some terrific wines, sustainably grown meats and vegetables, and fresh fish from the sea.

🌮🍺 The ranch cattle roam free in the vineyard here, our dogs have got acquainted with them. Yesterday, on a run to the winemaking supply store in Ensenada, we enjoyed a quick stop at Tacos Don Zefe for fish tacos and Bohemias.
